How to create a new menu via spreadsheet

This guide explains how to upload an Excel spreadsheet file (.xlsx) into Otter to create a new menu.

User Instructions

  1. Access Otter Dashboard
  2. Select Apps in the top-left corner and then select Menu
  3. Select Add Menu
  4. Select Upload
  5. Select Download Template to download the Otter Bulk Creation Template
    • Note - If you already have a menu set up, you can download this menu directly into the same template from the Menus tab
  6. Open the template in Excel and update the following fields:
    • Items
    • Categories
    • Modifiers
      • Note - Make sure to include the minimum and maximum number for each modifier
    • Description (optional)
    • Prices
      • Note - Must be a number. Use periods for decimal places.
    • External POS ID
      • Note - Only required if you're using a POS such as Toast, Clover or Square
  7. Repeat steps 1-4
  8. Select Browse File and upload your menu
  9. Enter the name of your menu
  10. Select the brand for your menu
  11. Select all locations you would like this menu to be applied
  12. Select Create Menu
