How to Update an Item with Menu Management

Overview

Within Direct Orders, customers can use Menu Management to edit items themselves. This is useful for changing an item's photograph, description, price, or related element. 

Process

Update Items (Self-Serve Otter Users)

Step # Actions  Additional Info. 
1 Log into Otter Dashboard  
2 From the Apps menu in the top-left of the screen, select Menus  
3 Click on the menu that contains the item you'd like to update.   
4 In the selected menu, click on the item you'd like to edit.  Users can click the Items tab at the top of the page to view all of their items in one list. 
5 You'll be taken to the Edit Item page. Click on the part of the item you'd like to update, and make the necessary changes.  
6 Once your updates are complete, press the Save button in the top-right corner of the page.  The blue Save button is located directly next to the Cancel button.
7 When all items have been updated, click the Publish button in the top-right of the page, then Publish menu in the window that appears. These item updates have now been published! Once the Publish button has been clicked, a window will appear from the side of the page. Scroll down to the bottom of it to see the Publish menu button. 

 

Update pricing by channel

3 Click on the menu that contains the item you'd like to update.   
4 In the selected menu, click on the item you'd like to edit.  Users can click the Items tab at the top of the page to view all of their items in one list.

A pop-up will open, select the action you want to perform:

  • Change price everywhere – to increase or decrease the items' default price by a certain amount

  • Change price per channel – to increase or decrease the items' prices by a different amount for each channel

7 You can choose to toggle between changing the % price or the $ fixed amount  
8 Click on “Change pricing” to update.  
9 Publish your menu so that the changes are reflected on all your channels  

 

How to add menu item photos

1 Log into Otter Dashboard  
2 From the Apps menu in the top-left of the screen, select Menus  
3 Select the proper menu.

5 To import the photos from the OFO, click on “Import Photos

A pop-up will appear for you to select the OFO (one or multiple) to import the menu photos from.

  • Make sure the checkbox “Assign photos to items automatically” is selected.

7 After at least one OFO is selected, click on “Import” to begin bootstrapping the menu photos into the Otter Menu.

Once the import is complete, the photos should automatically assign themselves to the proper menu items.

 

If the checkbox for automatic menu item assignment was not selected, you will need to assign the photos to the menu items manually in Business Manager.

  • Select the photo

  • Click on the “Assign to item” drop-down

  • Select the correct menu item for the photo

    1. Please use the OFO menus to confirm which photos belong to which menu items

 
9 Now, click on “Publish” in the top, right to publish the menu photos to all the connected channels.  

 

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is there a limit to how many items I can update at once?

A: No! Update as many items as you prefer – they will all go live once the menu has been published.

Q: Does updating an item affect the menu as a whole?

A: No. Only the items selected for updates are changed when the menu is re-published. 

Q: How long does it take for item updates to be published?

A: All item updates should be published immediately, across all of your connected channels, once the above process is complete.
