Overview
The Table Numbers feature for QR Code Ordering allows your business to keep track of each digital dine-in order placed by eaters by assigning each order a table number.
This lets your restaurant staff efficiently identify what order goes to which diner.
Enabling Table Numbers
Table Number tracking can be enabled from an organization or location/store level.
- Organization Level: Applies to all brands and locations
- Location/Store Level: Applies to only that location within a brand
Follow the steps below to enable table number tracking for digital dine-in orders.
Step Process Image 1 From the Otter Dashboard, select Apps > Direct Orders. 2 Click [Settings]. 3 Click the Dine-in tab. 4 Scroll to Table number tracking section & toggle ON to allow. 5 Click [Save] to confirm changes.
Changes will apply to all brands.
Step Process Image 1 From the Otter Dashboard, select Apps > Direct Orders. 2 Click View Stores for the brand you’d like to edit. 3 Click [Settings] for the location you’d like to edit. 4 Click the Dine-in tab. 5 Scroll to Table number tracking section & toggle ON to allow. 6 Click [Save] to confirm changes.
Changes will apply to only that location.
Table Number QR Codes
When Table number tracking is toggled ON for digital dine-in, when you print QR Codes (from the Otter Dashboard) for eaters to scan— you can choose to print QR Codes with or without table numbers assigned to a QR Code.

QR Assigned Table Number
QR codes with table numbers will create a unique QR Code for each section/table number set by you. When a diner scans a QR Code to place an order for dine-in, the table number will automatically be assigned to their order.
Flow of QR Codes with table numbers:

Step 1
If you choose to Print QR codes with table numbers, each unique QR Code will have a table number assigned to it.

Step 2
You will be able to customize and configure these assigned table numbers to best fit your business’ needs. -
Step 3
When an eater scans a table assigned QR Code, the table number will auto-populate for them on the ordering website.
QR Without Table Numbers
QR codes without table numbers will create one universal QR Code for your restaurant's digital dine-in. When a diner scans a QR Code to place an order for dine-in, they will need to manually add their table number while placing their order.
Flow of QR Codes without table numbers:

Step 1
If you choose to Print QR codes without table numbers, one QR code will be generated for universal use to navigate to place a digital dine-in order.

Step 2
Since a table number will not auto-populate, eaters will need to enter a table number while placing a digital dine-in order after scanning the QR code. -
Step 3
Eaters will need to know what number to enter when ordering— you can do this by having tables clearly numbered or having table numbers for diners to grab.

FAQs

You can edit existing, and add or remove sections/numbers for QR code
assignment by going back into Print QR codes for the Organization or
Store/Location within the Direct Orders App in the Otter Dashboard.

No— at this time, when selecting the table section, you will only be able to choose table, bar, or patio.

Yes— Select the Request professional prints option when clicking to print QR codes. There, you’ll be able to request professionally printed QR codes.
