How to Set up Payments in Direct Orders

Overview

Before users can start receiving payments from fulfilled orders, they need to connect their bank account to Otter through Stripe. These accounts can be connected promptly through Direct Orders' Payment settings. 

Process

Setup a New Payout Method

1 Log into Otter Dashboard  
2 Click the Profile button. This button is in the top-right of the main Business Manager menu, and marked with an icon of a person.

In the Settings page's lefthand menu, click the Payouts dropdown tab, then select the Payout settings tab.

On the Payout settings page, click the Add method button for the store or brand you'd like to connect a payout method to.

A pop-up window will appear. In it, click Connect Stripe Account. 

 
6 Complete the Stripe setup process by entering in the correct information for your payout method. Stripe's on-screen instructions  will guide you through this process.

At the end of the Stripe setup process, click the Agree & submit button.

You'll be brought back to Otter. Your brand's selected payout method will show a yellow Pending status banner.

After a few minutes, click the brand's Pencil button to continue connecting your payout method.

This wait shouldn't take more than five minutes or so.

The Edit payout method pop-up window will appear. In it, select your payout method from the dropdown menu, then click Manage on Stripe

You'll be brought back to Stripe and prompted to enter your Social Security Number (SSN). Click the Submit button to continue verifying your identity.

On the next identity verification page, click Agree & submit. 

Be sure to double-check all the information you've added to prevent inaccuracies.

You'll be redirected back to Otter, and your store's selected payout method will show a red Needs attention status banner.

Click the Pencil button to re-open the Edit payout method pop-up window.

In the pop-up window, select your preferred payout method from the dropdown menu, then click Manage on Stripe. (Have an identity verification document ready to complete the next step.)

This identity verification document could include a driver's license, health card, etc. – any form of ID that's been government-issued.

You'll be brought back to Stripe. Select your preferred ID verification method, then click the Next button.

On the next screen, verify that all the information you've entered is correct, then click the Agree & submit button.

You'll be brought back to Otter. Now, you should see a green Active status banner for your store's chosen payout method. This payout method is connected!

 

Add an Existing Payout Method to a Store or Brand

Complete the above process at least once. 

 
2 On the Payout settings page, click the Add Method button for a store that doesn't have a payout method connected yet.

A pop-up window will appear. Click the dropdown menu showing Select a payout method.

From this dropdown menu, choose an existing payout method. Then, click the Save button to save your changes. This payout method has now been added to another store or brand!

 

 

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I need to connect my bank account through Stripe to receive payments?

A: Yes. Stripe is the system that Otter uses to pay Merchants for fulfilled orders, and it is necessary to have it connected to receive payments. 

Q: Does setting up my payments with this method apply to all of my Direct Orders brands and storefronts?

A: Yes. These payments settings apply across your entire Direct Orders presence. 

Q: Is this payment method used for both Online Ordering and Digital Dine-in?

A: Yes. You'll receive payment for every kind of order you fulfill in Direct Orders through this method.
