Overview

Direct Orders users can provide coupons to their customers to go along with special promotions or offers. Creating and distributing these coupons is a great way to strengthen engagement with and loyalty to a digital restaurant!

 


 

Process

Create Coupons in Direct Orders

Step # Actions  Additional Info. 
1 Log into Otter Dashboard  
2 From the Apps menu in the top-left of the screen, select Marketing Marketing is the last option in the Apps drop-down menu. 
3 On the far-left side of the Marketing page, click the Direct Orders Discounts option.   
4 On the far-right side of the screen, click the blue Create Discount button.   
5 A pop-up screen will appear. In the Discount section, enter the new coupon's name, type, amount, limit (if applicable), and discount code.  
6 Scroll down to the Distribution section, and toggle on the methods you'd like to distribute the coupon by.  If you're distributing a coupon over text message, enter its Audience, Send date, and Message, as well. 
7 Scroll down to the Advanced Setting section, and choose the Storefronts and Duration that this coupon will apply for.  
8 Click the Create button in the top-right of the screen. Your coupon has been created!  

 

Edit Coupons in Direct Orders

3 On the far-left side of the Marketing page, click the Direct Orders Discounts option.   
4 Click an existing coupon.  
5 A pop-up screen will appear. Select one of the existing fields, then either click or type in a new piece of text.   
6 When you're satisfied with your changes, click the blue Save button in the top-right of your screen. Your coupon has been edited! You can also click the white Cancel button to discard your edits. 

 


 

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How long are coupons in Direct Orders usable for?

A: You decide! Coupon duration can be set in the coupon menu's "Advanced Settings" section. 

Q: Can coupons in Direct Orders be exchanged for cash or any other currency?

A: No. Coupons in Direct Orders are only usable on the Direct Orders platform. 

Q: Can coupons in Direct Orders be used for Online Ordering and Digital Dine-in?

A: Yes! Direct Orders coupons are applicable to any form of Direct Orders sale. 

Q: Why is the coupon not working?

A: This coupon may be expired, the order doesn't meet the minimum basket requirements, has already been used, etc. Troubleshoot the issue by reviewing the existing coupon details in Direct Orders Discounts [Edit Coupons in Direct Orders].

  1. Ensure the customer is using the correct discount code.
  2. Check to make sure all the coupon fields are set up accurately following the steps under Edit Coupons in Direct Orders.
  3. If this is a single-use discount, confirm the coupon has not been applied to a previous order. 
  4. If the coupon still does not work, you can deactivate the discount and create a new discount coupon following the steps under Create Coupons in Direct Orders.
