Keeping the Otter App Up-To-Date

Summary

The Otter app is frequently updated overnight. After an update, users will be required to take care of the following:

  • Finish any setup steps displayed on the tablet
  • Log back in to Otter Order Manager
  • Reconnect printers to Otter One
NOTE: Only Local/Bluetooth printers can be connected with Otter One. Cloud (ethernet) printers cannot.

 


 

Updating The Otter Tablet

  1. Software updates will take your tablet offline for approximately 10 minutes. They are typically completed overnight and require no input from customers to complete.

  2. When finished, users will need to:

    1. Finish any steps displayed on the tablet

    2. Log back in to Otter Order Manager

NOTE: You may have created a PIN to sign in easily. You can also sign in with your normal Otter credentials.

 

Connecting The Printer to Otter One

  1. Connect your Otter tablet to the main router

  2. Open the otter One App. This will show you the Order Manager dashboard for your account.

    1. NOTE: Make sure you’re signed in to the correct Order Manager account. Check this in your Order Manager Settings.

  3. Tap the printer icon

  4. Tap Add a printer

  5. Tap the brand of the printer you’re trying to connect

    1. You can identify the make and model of your printer from its label

    2. NOTE: It may be useful to keep a record of the printers in your store if you have more than one.

  6. Select the type of connection your printer uses

  7. Follow the additional tips for setting up Bluetooth printers

  8. Tap Find my printer

  9. Tap your printer when it appears.

  10. You can tap Send test print or OK to close the wizard.

 

Tips for Self-Supplied Tablets

Check for any available Otter One updates:

  • Make sure your Otter tablet is connected to the internet and plugged in with a power adapter
  • Make sure the Otter tablet is charged
  • Open the Play Store app
  • At the top right, tap the profile icon
  • Tap Manage Apps & device
  • If Otter One appears with the label “Update available," tap Update

Make sure Auto-Update is enabled for Otter One:

  • Make sure your Otter tablet is connected to the internet and plugged in with a power adapter
  • Make sure the Otter tablet is charged
  • Open the Play Store app
  • At the top right, tap the profile icon
  • Tap Manage Apps & device
  • Tap Manage
  • Find and tap the Otter app
  • Go to the Details page, and tap More
  • Toggle Enable auto update ON
