The Otter POS Time Card app simplifies employee time tracking, ensuring precise staff hour records and smooth shift management.

It enables employees to clock in or out directly from your Otter POS terminal and integrates employee time reporting into your Otter Dashboard, providing a comprehensive overview of your operations.

Time Card Features

Once Time Card is enabled for a location, employees can clock in and out directly on the Otter POS terminal. If an employee has not clocked in when they attempt to use the terminal, they will be prompted to clock in first before they can proceed with using the terminal.

Employee Reporting in Otter Dashboard

The Time Card feature will also enable a new app within the Otter Dashboard called Staff. Within the Staff app, you can view or export reports on employees' clocked working hours.

Editing Employee Time Card Entries

If you need to edit a time card entry, due to mismatched or missing information, you can do so from the Staff app within the Otter Dashboard.

Otter Admins (typically the owner or manager) can view and make changes to clock-in history without having to create a new entry to resolve a clock in error.

Steps to Edit Time Card in the Otter Dashboard

Login to the Otter Dashboard.

Open the top left [Apps] dropdown.

Click into the [Staff] app.

Locate the time card entry you want to edit.

Click the pencil icon.

Edit the entry by entering new information in the following fields:

  • Location
  • Date
  • Clocked In
  • Clocked Out

Click the [Save] button at the bottom of the popup window

The data will be updated and the dashboard will reflect the saved changes

Time cards can NOT be edited from the Otter POS terminal. All time card entries can only be edited from the Otter Dashboard > Staff app.

 


Frequently Asked Questions

  • All Otter POS customers who have opted into the Otter POS Time Card features.

    If you would like to add the Time Card features to your Otter POS, please reach out to Otter Support to enable the features.

    There is no additional cost to add the Time Card features.
  • All employees with a pin code will be able to clock in and out through the Time Card app on the POS terminal.
  • The Time Card report data is updated immediately.
  • Clock in and clock out data are recorded with the same time as the device (the device's time zone).
  • You can edit a clock in or clock out time by updating the timecard entry from the Otter Dashboard Staff app > Time Card report. Follow the steps outlined here to edit a timecard entry in the Staff app.
  • Currently, the Time Card report in Otter Dashboard only shows shifts that have a clock in AND a clock out event. Once the employee has clocked out, the Time Card data will be available in the Staff app within the Otter Dashboard.
