How to Update Direct Orders Delivery Settings

Overview

The Delivery Settings, located within the Direct Orders app, allows you adjust the delivery area parameters for your restaurant(s). Adjusting these settings gives you flexibility and control over where you deliver and the associated delivery fees. 

 


 

Updating Your Delivery Settings

Within the Direct Orders App, you are able to adjust the following delivery settings:  

Delivery Area
  • Distance-based parameters
    • Single line radius
    • Driving distance
  • Customized Zones
    • Gives you the ability to draw multiple custom delivery zones on a map
    • More control over which areas you would like to provide delivery
Delivery Fees
  • Single delivery fee
  • Customized delivery fee based on distance

How to access the Delivery Settings in your Otter Dashboard

 

To update your the delivery settings in your Otter Dashboard, follow the steps below:

3. Under "Settings for all brands", click on the Delivery tab.

This page is where you have the option to adjust your delivery area parameters and delivery fees,  according to your preference.

How to set the delivery area parameters


You can set the delivery area according to distance from the restaurant.

 

When setting your delivery area parameters based on distance, you will have two options:


Driving distance

  • Measures the distance using automobile travel times.
  • Note - This will be the default option selected for all new customers and the default will be 5 miles or 5 km based on region

Straight line distance

  • Measures the direct distance between two points and does not account for the surface between the two points.
  • Note - All existing customers will be on this configuration by default as they are already using straight line distance, however, they will have the option to update to driving distance or custom zones

How to configure delivery area by custom zones


Note: This setting is only available within individual store settings (Direct Orders > Store > Settings > Delivery). This is not available in the Settings for all stores.

1. Login to your Otter Dashboard. chrome-capture-2024-4-2.png

3. Click on View Stores. View Stores in the Otter Dashboard.png
4. Locate the store you would like to update and click on Settings. Store Settings in Otter Dashboard.png
5. Click on the Delivery tab at the top of the page. Store Settings Delivery tab.png

6. Locate the "Delivery area" section and click on the Zones tab.

 

Note: This setting is only available within individual store settings (Direct Orders > Store > Settings > Delivery). This is not available in the Settings for all stores.

How to set the delivery fees


The Delivery Settings in the Direct Orders app also allows you to determine how you'd like delivery fees to be applied. You can choose between setting the delivery cost to a single delivery fee or create a customized delivery fee based on distance.

 

Single delivery fee

You can choose to have a single delivery fee across all deliveries (this is the default behavior).

Customized delivery fee based on distance

You can choose to have the delivery fee adjust, depending on the distance and set a Max Distance by creating different ranges. This tiered pricing will assign delivery costs based on delivery distance you assign in the settings

Frequently Asked Questions

What changes in the Eater's experience? 

There will not be any visual change for the eater. However, based on the delivery settings you apply, the fees to deliver will be adjusted, according to the eater's delivery address.
