In today's fast-paced world, efficiency is key when it comes to managing transactions. With Otter POS, completing an order transaction has never been easier. Otter POS uses the menu that has been published to Otter Point of Sale to add items directly to the cart and process order payments.

Ordering Interface
The Order Entry (Cart) view gives you the ability to create a new POS order by adding menu items to the cart, attach a discount, and process a payment for the order.

Publish Menu to Otter POS
Using Otter’s [Menu] app, any menu can be published to Otter POS. When publishing a Brand Menu, ensure the menu is published to Otter POS. Once published, menu categories will appear on the ordering interface.

Open Tabs and Pay Later
If a customer places an order over the phone or through the drive-thru, this feature will allow you to send the order to the kitchen and have the customer pay later once they are in front of the register. Learn more on how to complete an Open Tab/Pay Later order by clicking the section below!
How to: Complete a Pay Later Order in Otter POS

1 | From the home screen, navigate to the [POS] app. | |
2 | Select the blue [+] button located on the bottom right of the screen. | |
3 | Add items to your cart as usual. | |
4 | Select the pencil icon [] located at the top right of the screen to edit the Order Details. | |
5 | Fill in the fulfillment details and click [Save].

6 | Select the arrow icon [➤] located next to the Pay button. This will send the ticket to the kitchen, keeping the tab open. | |
7 | Once the customer is ready to pay, select the ticket from the order list view. | |
8 | Continue through the payment flow to complete the transaction! |
Check Options
Check options refer to the different operations that can be performed on a check before it has been paid out. With Otter POS, cashiers have access to a variety of check options that allow them to customize the check according to the customer's needs. From adding open items to applying discounts, Otter POS makes it easy for cashiers to process transactions quickly and accurately.

Add Discount Discounts can be applied after the Discount buttons have been created in Otter Dashboard. From this interface, you can select a discount from the pre-made list. If a Discount requires Manager Approval, Otter POS will prompt a four-digit PIN, where a Supervisor-level PIN code can be used to authorize a discount. Add Open Item An Open Item is an item that is not listed on the Otter POS Menu. Cashiers have the ability to create Open Items and manually include them on a customer's check. When an open item is sent to the kitchen, it will be automatically printed on a connected Otter Printer or can be viewed on an Otter KDS system. |

Void Check Voiding a Check, typically means canceling a transaction or order that was entered into the system by was either not finalized or not fulfilled. When a check has been voided, item totals are not calculated as a sale in the End of Day Reporting and otherwise. When voiding a check, the cashier is always prompted to select a reason for the void, which will appear in the end-of-day report and in other reporting within the Otter Dashboard. |

Reprint Ticket Selecting Reprint ticket will print a copy of the current order receipt. |

Open Cash Drawer Selecting this button when a cash drawer is connected and cash management enabled, will open the cash drawer, allowing for funds to be deposited or withdrawn. |

Loyalty A customer profile can be added to a check to earn loyalty rewards for that customer. This feature is only available if the user is paying for Otter Loyalty as part of their subscription. |

Enable Training Mode Training Mode can be enabled on Otter Point-of-Sale to allow users to learn how to navigate the POS, ring in test orders, and get a feel for Otter’s system without processing real order and transaction data. Recent Orders
Otter POS's [Recent Orders] feature allows you to access the 10 most recent orders within the past 6 months in one click for your customers. This enables easy addition of popular items to the cart without manual search. Streamlining this process leads to faster customer service and a better overall experience for staff and customers.

To access the customer's previous orders and activate the “recent order” and “pre-fill modifier" feature, you must attach a customer profile or loyalty account to the current ticket or order. Learn more about Eater Profiles and Loyalty:
NOTE: Once an existing customer has been added to the ticket, a “Recent order” entry card will appear on the menu.

The recent order cards act as a quick combo option with no “unselect” feature. You can tap a single card or different cards multiple times, and each tap adds the order’s items and modifiers to the cart. To remove items, you will need to do so within the cart. |
Pre-fill Item Modifiers
When you add an item to the cart that has modifiers and was ordered within the last 30 orders, the modifiers from the previous order will be pre-filled automatically. A summary banner will show these selected modifiers at the top. |

Once you make any modifier updates, the “(from last order)” indicator will disappear. |

Swipe the item to the right to repeat the action and add more of the same into the cart. Swipe the item to the left to remove the item from the cart. |
