What's New in Otter POS v2

No More POS App and Financials App

Otter POS v1 has 3 different order lists located in 3 separate apps: Orders app, POS app, and Financials app. This fragmented experience requires you to navigate in and out of apps as opposed to staying in your workflow and accomplishing all relevant tasks.

In the new Otter POS v2, the POS app and Financials app features will now be accessible within the [Orders] app.

What POS app features have moved to the Orders app?

  • View all orders within the Orders app (Otter POS orders, online orders, dine-in orders, etc.)
  • Order entry screen can be launched from the Orders app by clicking on [+ New order]
All cashiers roles will automatically be taken to the order entry screen upon pin entry.

What Financials app features have moved to the Orders app?

  • Refunds can be submitted for orders completed recently through the order options
  • Reprint customer receipts on the order details screen
  • Financial transaction details can be viewed on the order details screen

 

Refund and Cancel Orders in Otter

Order refunds and cancellations just got easier! You can now process refunds and cancel orders for recently completed orders directly from the order details within the Orders app.

Reprinting Tickets

In Otter POS v1, reprinting a customer ticket needed to be done within the Financials app. Now with Otter POS v2, you can quickly reprint tickets by selecting the [printer icon Printer icon ] at the bottom of the order details screen within the Orders app.

How to reprint tickets in the Orders app

Step Process Image
1 Go to the [Orders] app.
Select [Orders] App
2 Select the order you would like to reprint the ticket for.
Select a recent order
3 Select the [printer icon Printer icon ] located at the bottom of the screen.

Viewing Financial Transaction Details

Financial transaction details can be found in the right side panel when viewing an order in Otter POS v2. You no longer have to go to Financials to view this information - it's all located within the Orders app now!

New Menu Category View

In the new Otter POS v2 experience, the category view and item view have been combined onto the same page. This allows you to easily locate menu items, without having to change screens, making the order entry process much smoother!

What has changed?

  • The check has moved from the right to the left side of the screen
  • Two column view for the menu: categories on the left and items on the right
  • The selected category will be highlighted in a color 
  • Both menu columns are vertically scrollable for overflow categories and items
  • Tapping on the items in the right column will open the modifier options
  • Menu images will not be displayed on the order entry screen

 

Eater Details and Loyalty Profiles

Adding customer details has been simplified to a single button to search for an eater profile or Loyalty profile. All newly created eater profiles will automatically be added as a Loyalty customer.

Otter POS prioritizes Loyalty profiles first and eater profiles second to ensure your eaters are gaining their Loyalty points and benefits.

Check Options

The order entry screen now has a new [Options] tab in Otter POS v2. This tab offers a quick way to access relevant check options including discounts, void check, open cash drawer, enable Training Mode, and so much more!

Searching for Orders

There is now a search bar at the top of the orders list view in the Orders app. This search bar gives you the ability to quickly locate and action on orders. 

Just select the magnifying glass Search icon icon to open the search bar and type in the customer's name or order number.

Tip After Payment and Cash Tips

With Otter POS v2, you now have access to POS and Orders settings that will allow you to enable Cash Tipping, After Payment tipping, and configure the POS terminal tip display for eaters.

In the Otter POS v1 interface, tips still need to be entered before the payment is processed. Cash tipping, tips on receipts (after payment), and terminal tip display settings are not available on Otter POS v1.

Orders can have tips entered up to 24 hours after the transaction. When the [Display tip options after payment] setting is enabled, to allow time for tip entry, payments will be delayed by one additional business day.

Tip Maximums 
Stripe limits the maximum tip amount to 50% of the pre-authorized amount or $50 USD (whichever is greater).

How can I change to the new Otter POS v2 interface?


If you would like to enable the new Otter POS v2 experience, please reach out to your Otter account manager or the Otter Support team. We would be happy to activate this for you!

Where can I see pickup and delivery POS orders?


Delivery and pickup orders from Otter POS will be shown under the filter for [All] orders. These orders can also be accessed by following the steps below:
