Overview:
As tax season approaches, you may be on the lookout for Form 1099-K to complete your annual tax filing. Form 1099-K is for Operators who earner over $5,000 in gross unadjusted earnings. In partnership with Stripe, Otter files tax forms in January, which are postmarked by January 31 and expected to be received by mail in early February.
Please note for the 2024 U.S. Tax Year, electronic Tax Form availability varies by user:

For users on a Custom Connect Account, the 1099-K Form will also be made available in your Otter Dashboard. Otter will notify you, via email, when this is available.

For users on a Unified Connect Account, the 1099-K Form will be available in your Stripe Dashboard. Stripe will notify you, via email, when this is available.

You’ll receive an email from either Otter (for Custom Connect Accounts) or Stripe (for Unified Connect Accounts) when your digital 1099-K form is available. Additionally, physical 1099-K forms will be postmarked by January 31 and should arrive by mail in early February.

What is a 1099-K?

I have not received my 1099-K Form. What should I do?
Please note 1099-K Forms are post marked by January 31st, and could take some time to reach your business address. We expect forms to be delivered by early February. If you have not received it by then, please utilize the guidance provided above to electronically download your form.

Are the amounts reflected on my 1099-K including earnings collected on third-party delivery platforms (EX: UberEats, DoorDash, etc)
No, the earnings reflected on the Form 1099-K are only for Otter specific product offerings. Earnings collected on third-party platforms will be reflected on a separate form issued by the platform

I received a 1099-K for business engagements that I did not authorize. What should I do?
If you suspect identity theft related to a 1099-K issued to you, please adhere to the steps outlined by Stripe, our third-party payment processor, here. One you have completed the steps, please immediately notify us at legal@tryotter.com

The amounts reflected on my 1099-K are incorrect. What should I do?
If you find an error on the Form 1099-K received, in some cases Otter can correct and reissue your 1099-K. Errors requiring a corrected Form 1099-K include:
- Incorrect business
- Incorrect TIN/EIN
- Financial Calculation Discrepancy
