The Close of Day Workflow for Otter POS streamlines the daily closing process by ensuring all open transactions are closed, all employees are clocked out, and all cash drawers are properly settled before the end of each business day.
This feature will help you maintain accurate financial records, prevent discrepancies, and improve overall operational efficiency.
Completing the Close of Day Workflow
Supervisors and managers can follow the steps below to complete the POS Close of Day Workflow at the end of each service day to finalize sales, review outstanding transactions, close cash drawers, and clock out staff.
This feature is not terminal-specific. The tasks will be completed for all terminals at the store. However, remote cash drawers must be closed on the device they were started on.

Step 1
Use your user pin to log in to the Otter app.

Step 2
Once on the Otter home screen, click on the End of Day Report icon in the top right corner of the screen. This will launch the Store Performance view.The user must have Supervisor permissions.
If you do not have the proper permissions or are not logged in as a user with the proper permissions, you will be prompted to pin in again. -
Step 3
Select [Close today]. -
Step 4
The same Summary from the End of Day Report will appear at the top of the Close of Day Workflow. Below the Summary, you'll be able to see which closing tasks are complete or incomplete.- Close checks
- Collect tips
- End cash drawers
- Clock out staff

Step 5
To complete outstanding tasks, select the task to take them directly to the unresolved item.
After the item is resolved, the operator can select the blue banner “You can continue with the end of day workflow once you are done with current task” to easily navigate back to the Close of Day Workflow to resolve the remaining items.
Once all items have been resolved for a task, the operator can select the green banner “click the button to proceed with other tasks“ to navigate back to the Close of Day Workflow to review other outstanding tasks and close the day. -
Step 6
After selecting Close of Day, the operator will have the option to print the End of Day Report or click [Done] to exit the close of day process.
