Tablet Walkthrough

Welcome to Otter! We are excited to introduce you to our Order Manager functions. By the end of this walkthrough, you should be an expert! But as always, let us know if you need additional help. Let’s get started!

 

What's in the box:

If you ordered a tablet from us, you should have gotten one that looks similar to below, along with a charger. If you opted out and are using your own device, that’s okay too! Just make sure your device is connected to WiFi and use a web browser to access app.tryotter.com. The rest of the instructions apply to both options.

Web Order Manager

Connecting to WI-FI

Turn your tablet on and connect it to WiFi by swiping down from the top of the home screen and clicking on the WiFi symbol.
Click into the WiFi section to connect the network your device will be running on. This is going to be your in-house WiFi. Enter your password to connect!

Logging in to the Otter app

Once your WiFi is successfully connected, sign into the Otter app. Click the Otter icon at the bottom of your screen.

Enter your logins provided on a sheet that came with your hardware. If you misplaced that sheet, that’s fine! Your logins were also sent to the main email on file from onboarding@tryotter.com.

Orders

Congrats, you’re in! Welcome to Order Manager.

First stop, the Orders screen. This is where your active orders will be flowing through. An order will specify:

  • The delivery channel its coming from
  • Order identifiers like customer name & order #
  • Estimated time until that order will be picked up

Click into an order to see details- here, you can scroll to see an itemized breakdown of the order and more specific customer details such as where the order is going, as well as contact information for the customer and the courier.

Inside an an order, you can also mark it ready for pick up to notify the courier, as well as reprint a ticket.

Settings

If you tap the 3 horizontal lines in the top left corner of your screen, it will populate a list of other functions. *note, you can access this pop-out menu from any screen on your dashboard.

Navigating to Settings, you can see your restaurant profile, as well as the option to activate full screen notifications on your tablet and printing prices on your receipts. These can both be changed anytime!

Go ahead & play that test sound, to hear the sweet notification of a hungry customer.

Integrations

The Integrations page will show you all the delivery channels connected to your Order Manager dashboard.

 

On this page, you can also change each delivery channel to “auto-accept” orders, which means the orders will accept automatically! This is a great feature to ensure no orders are missed.

You can also change your prep time at any time, by tapping the right arrow (>) to increase minutes, and tapping the left arrow (<) to decrease.

Insights

The Reports section is a great way to access your daily sales, product performance and frequency
of delivery channel used.

Live Chat Support


We understand that restaurant life is fast-paced, so your tablet comes pre-configured with a Support button,which on the other side has many live agents ready to help!

Just tap that Support button at the bottom left of any screen, type anything in the search bar- (try “help”!) and bypass the FAQs if nothing applies. Now, tap Live Chat.

Here, you’ll see your profile, a reason for your chat and a place to type a message. Type anything to get the chat going, then tap Start chat!

Please note that the conversation initiated on Web Order Manager Chat and Web Mobile Chat are two separate conversations, which means the chat history between the two are independent and will not be synced

Click on the black icon and the option to continue chat on mobile will display. mobilechat.png

A QR code will display to continue on a phone or other mobile device

Scan the QR code and the support chat will load on that new phone/mobile device

Wifi Onboarding

Launch the Otter app, if the device is not connecting to wifi network, otter app will ask to connect to wifi first. The wifi setup flow shows up every time the app launches without network connection.

Click “Open settings” button will lead customer to the device wifi settings page.

Once connected to the network successfully, the Otter app can be opened again and the login page will load. Login to the app and start using the app from there.

 

Logging into the Otter app

The Otter app will prompt connecting the store location.

Orders

Once logged in and printer is connected as needed, then the New Order Manager will move to the Order app after selecting Let's go
