Overview
The Menu Edit History tab in Menu Manager gives you a complete view of all historical updates made to your menus within Otter.
This visibility allows you to investigate issues and troubleshoot who made the change, when it was published, and details about what was changed.

Example: A restaurant owner needs to understand why their menu prices were adjusted by their employee. - Troubleshooting

Accessing Menu Edit History
The Menu Edit History tab can be found in the Menus app in the Otter Dashboard. This tab gives operators & Otter Support teams end-to-end visibility into the history and context of menu changes made at the Brand or Menu Group level.

Using Filters in Menu Edit History
Menu Edit History includes a robust set of filters and search capabilities to help you narrow down exactly which menu changes you are looking for.
Available Menu Edit History Filters:
- Date Range
Use the activity date picker or a date range to adjust the data shown. - Brand
Specify which brand’s menu changes to inspect. - Changed Fields
Filter by the types of field changes, such as, Price, Hours & Availability. - Select Location
Single-selection in Location view & Multi-selection where applicable. - Entity (Update) Type
Specify which brand’s menu changes to inspect. - All Menu Fields
Switch between menu fields: Menu Name, Menu Items, Menu Categories, Modifier Groups
Using Event Details to Investigate a Menu
When viewing a specific event and clicking into a table row, several Menu Inspection Tools are available to help you understand and share what happened with your menu, including:
- Copy Link
- Per-Entry Change Details Page
- Changed Fields Only Setting
Available Menu Inspection Tools
- Copy Link
What does it do? Provides a direct, persistent link to the currently open event.
What do I use this for? Sharing specific changes with teammates and referencing a particular edit in support tickets, training materials, or audits.
- Per-Entry Change Details
What does it do? Each event contains expandable rows that show property-level “before” and “after” values.
What do I use this for? See precisely what changed at the field level and how a value evolved. Example: Price change from $9 to $10.50 or item availability from “all day” to “dinner menu only”. Changed Fields Only Setting
What does it do? A toggle control allows users to limit the event-detail table to only fields that were modified.
What do I use this for? This reduces visual noise and focus your attention on relevant changes that impact the business.

- A Menu Entity is any object that composes your menu, including: Menu Name, Menu Category, Menu Item, Modifier Group, and Menu Hours.
- Activity Logs: Tracks the history & results of menu actions that trigger publish actions to external channels. Activity Log Examples: Publishing a menu to all channels or 86ing an item to all channels.
Menu Edit History: Tracks all changes made to the menu in Otter by granular settings, including those not published. Menu Edit History Examples: Field by field or Entity by entity.
