Overview
Delivery App Marketing allows restaurants to create, deploy, promote, and track campaigns for their business on delivery app platforms.
Within the Delivery App Marketing tab, you can:
- Create discounts
- Customize promotions
- Configure time/day to run campaigns
- Set campaign automations
- View performance and spend of campaigns
Running campaigns for delivery app platforms can help raise online visibility, grow orders and customer base, and increase average basket spend.
Campaign Types
There are 3 types of campaigns to choose from when creating a campaign within the Delivery App Marketing tab.
- Promotion Campaign: Custom discounts to provide eaters with deals when ordering from your restaurant on a delivery platform.
- Ad Campaign: Create ad campaigns across multiple storefronts and delivery platforms. This will show a promotion for your storefront while eaters are browsing restaurants on a delivery platform.
- Boost Automation: Offers automatic, seamless end-to-end management and optimization for ad campaigns and promotions across multiple storefronts and delivery platforms within parameters you set.

Creating a Campaign
View the steps below to create each campaign type.
Step Process Image 1 From the Otter Dashboard, click Apps > Marketing. 2 Go to the Delivery App Marketing tab. 3 Click [Create campaign].
Select Promotion campaign.
4 Enter Name for promotion campaign. 5 Click [Select storefronts].
(Optional) Use search box or filters at the top for customized views of channels/locations.
6 Check the box next to a location and for the delivery platforms listed to add the promotion for.
Click [Confirm] when selection is finished.
7 Select Target audience for each delivery platform listed.
This is who the promotion will be available for.
8 Select Promotion type for each delivery platform listed. 9 Follow prompts to complete selections for Promotion type.
Different Promo Types per Platform
The Promotion types and customization can differ per delivery platform. Some delivery platforms may only support certain promotions (supported promo types will be listed within the dropbox).10 Set Duration of promotion campaign.
Set dates for start and end date to run promotion OR check box for Does not expire to not set an end date.
11 If applicable) Toggle Day and Time ON to select specific days and times to offer the promotion.
Click on a box to select that day & time.
Only Uber Eats & DoorDash
This feature is only available for Uber Eats and DoorDash promotions.12 (Optional) To set a weekly budget, enter dollar amount allotted for promotion spend.
Budget Limit Reached
The promotion will automatically pause when the entered weekly budget is reached for that week.If you do not wish to have a budget for the promotion, you can leave this field blank.
13 Click [Create promotion] once all selections are made to confirm the promotion campaign. Step Process Image 1 From the Otter Dashboard, click Apps > Marketing. 2 Go to the Delivery App Marketing tab. 3 Click [Create campaign].
Select Ad campaign.
4 Enter Name for ad campaign. 5 Click [Select storefronts].
(Optional) Use search box or filters at the top for customized views of channels/locations.
6 Check the box next to a location and for the delivery platforms listed to add the ad for.
Click [Confirm] when selection is finished.
7 Choose Bid method.
Auto: Allow delivery platform to manage bidding for you (taking your budget into consideration).
Manual: Configure and set your bidding per delivery platform yourself.
8 Select Audience for each delivery platform listed.
This is who the ad will be displayed for.
9 Set Weekly budget for each delivery platform.
Enter the dollar amount allotted for ad campaign spend.

Select Boost automation.
4 Enter Name for Boost campaign. 5 Click [Select storefronts].
(Optional) Use search box or filters at the top for customized views of channels/locations.
6 Check the box next to a location and for the delivery platforms listed to add Boost for.
Click [Confirm] when selection is finished.
7 Select Marketing types.
Promotions only: Offer discounts to eaters to apply towards their order
Promotions & ads: Offer discounts to eaters to apply towards their orders + create ad campaigns
8 Select percent range for Spend Target.
1-3%: Good to test 3rd party marketing conservatively.
3-7%: Ideal steady-state strategy to balance between growth and return on investment.
7-12%: More aggressive approach to temporarily boost your presence to beat the competition for visibility and growth.
9 Set Duration of ad campaign.
Set dates for start and end date to run promotion OR check box for Does not expire to not set an end date.
10 Click [Save] once all selections are made to confirm the Boost campaign.
Once you save or confirm a campaign creation— the campaign will be active and go-live on selected platforms corresponding with duration (& time/date if applicable) set for that campaign.
Viewing Campaigns
Once a campaign is created, you’ll be able view them from the Delivery App Marketing tab in two types of views:

Calendar View of Created Campaigns:
Plots campaigns in a calendar according to their start and end dates. You can change your view to see campaigns in a daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly view. -
List View of Create Campaigns:
Lists campaigns individually. You can filter your view by channel, type, status, brands, and locations.
Campaign Status
Each campaign will show the current status of that campaign. See below for each status type and what they mean.
- Active: The campaign is live or is being scheduled for storefronts. Eaters will see active campaigns on the delivery platform.
- Paused: The campaign is paused either due to manual pausing or reaching its allotted budget.
- Inactive: The campaign has not yet started, but will be started on a future date.
Editing a Campaign
Check below on how to edit a campaign depending on the view (calendar or list) you're using.

Edit from calendar view
To edit an existing campaign, just click on the campaign shown. This will bring up the edit window to make changes to the campaign details.
Click the 3 dots in the right hand corner to Pause or Delete the campaign. -
Edit from list view
To edit an existing campaign, just click the 3 dots next to the campaign you’d like to edit from the list view. From there, you can select to Edit, Pause, or Delete.
Quickly Locate Campaign
Use the filters or search box to quickly sort through listed campaigns and find the exact campaign you’re looking for.
Campaign Reporting
You can track the performance of delivery app campaigns and online order discounts from the Overview tab within the Marketing app.
You can view per:
- Channel
- Campaign
- Storefront

Troubleshooting
- If there are any connection issues with a storefront that may conflict with a campaign, an alert notification will display. To resolve, click [View storefronts] and follow the prompts.
- When selecting locations and channels to apply a campaign to— if a location/channel is not eligible for all or part of the campaign, you will see a warning icon displayed next to that selection. You can view more details about any ineligibility by hovering over the icon.
- Smart Promotions are not compatible with Otter promotions. If you are receiving an error related to Smart Promotions, navigate to your Grubhub merchant portal to disable this feature.
FAQs
- No— campaigns created through the Delivery App Marketing tab will only apply to connected delivery platforms.
- You can learn how to create and manage discounts for direct online orders here.
- Yes— When pausing, just select the delivery platform you wish you pause. The other platforms will remain active.
