How to integrate your online ordering platforms with Otter

Overview

At Otter, we know that there are a variety of tools that you may have tested or used to aggregate third-party delivery orders. We’re here to be the solution that stays. Follow this guide to integrate your online stores with Otter and accept orders seamlessly.

Process

1. Are you managing your online orders outside of delivery partner tablets?

How are you currently accepting online orders? Using a tablet or online order aggregator?

Using delivery tablets to manage orders?

If you’re using traditional delivery tablets to manage your online orders- like an Uber Eats, Grubhub or DoorDash tablet, then you’re ready to connect to Otter’s Order Manager. One of our specialists will work to get you fully set up.

Work with your online service providers- Uber Eats, DoorDash, Grubhub, to disconnect your current aggregator.

2. Contact your delivery service providers and inform them of the switch

Let your delivery service providers know that you plan to begin using Otter to accept orders. A request like this can typically be fulfilled by contacting support or speaking to your account manager.

Follow this guide for an outline of how to speak to each service provider.

If you’re using Otter hardware, we recommend fully installing your Otter tablet at your operation before switching to Otter.

Uber Eats

“I’m reaching out in regards to my store (insert store name). I am requesting the removal of all POS integrations on (x) date and at (x) time. Please remove all POS integrations, web hooks under “Users”, and enable menu maker. This location will be Integrated with Otter going forward.”

Doordash

“I’m reaching out in regards to my store (insert store name). I wanted to request the change of the order protocol from POS to tablet on (x) date and at (x) time. I will be integrating with Otter.”

GrubHub

“I’m reaching out in regards to my store (insert store name). I wanted to request the change of the order protocol from POS to tablet on (x) date and at (x) time. Please remove all POS connections and webhooks under users. The menu should no longer be externally managed.”

Other Service Provider

Using another service provider like a point-of-sale, Ordermark, Toast, or itsaCheckmate? Contact your point-of-sale provider and let them know that you’ll be switching to Otter to manage your orders on delivery services.

3. Confirm the switchover.

Sometimes, it can take 3-5 days to disconnect from a former aggregator. Once disconnected, we recommend placing a test order and accepting it using Otter.

Ensure that you have been switched over!

Ensure that both your former order aggregator and your delivery platforms confirm the disconnection request. This process typically takes 3-5 business days, but the duration may vary depending on the delivery platform and your previous aggregator.

Place a test order once Otter is installed.

Once Otter is installed, we recommend placing a test order at your restaurant from your online ordering storefront to ensure that the order is accepted using Otter.
