The Otter POS Product Onboarding flow in the Otter Dashboard guides you through the process of setting up your new Otter account and surfaces Otter POS Onboarding steps.
It ensures a seamless transition by providing detailed steps for account setup, hardware shipping, and Stripe Connection, ensuring you’re ready to move into the next phase of Point-of-Sale Onboarding.
Otter POS Onboarding Steps
Otter POS Onboarding can be found within the Otter Dashboard after you have purchased an Otter POS subscription. These steps will tie your purchased subscription to your new Otter account.
Step 1. Confirm Locations
You will be able to create your brand(s) and location(s) directly within the onboarding flow.

Add the addresses for the new brand. Select [Done] to save. |

Confirm the brand name and addresses. Press [Next] to continue. |
Step 2. Assign Packages
Next, the locations you have just created must be assigned to the package (subscription) that you purchased. Follow this flow to assign a package to each location

The screen will display a list of all packages (subscriptions) included in your Otter subscription quote. Select [Assign] next to each subscription to attach a package to each location. |

Each store you have created will appear on this screen. Select the [+] button next to each store to assign the selected package. Press [Next] to move on. |

3 | Once all packages have been assigned, press [Continue]. |
Step 3. Assign Add-Ons
Now that the packages have been assigned, you will need to assign the add-ons to your locations. Follow the steps below to assign your add-ons to each location.

The screen will display a list of all the add-ons included in your Otter subscription quote. Select [Assign] next to each add-on to attach the feature to each location. |

Each store you have created will appear on this screen. Select the checkbox next to each store to assign the selected add-on. Press [Next] to move on. |

3 | Once all the add-ons have been assigned, press [Continue]. |
Step 4. Assign Hardware
Next, we will assign hardware to each location. This maps the hardware you have purchased to the store where you intend to use it.

The screen will display all hardware that you signed for as part of the initial quote. Hardware must be assigned and shipped to a location from this page. Select [Assign] next to any hardware item. |

Each store we have created will appear on this screen. Press [+] to assign hardware to that store, then press [Next]. |

3 | Assign all purchased hardware to each store by repeating steps 1 + 2 if necessary, then press [Continue]. |
Step 5. Ship Hardware
During this step, the product will automatically confirm the shipping address for any hardware being sent.

2 | Enter your preferred shipping address. | |
3 | If you want everything to ship to the same address, toggle on [Ship everything to 1 location]. | |
4 | Check the box: “I confirm that the shipping addresses are where I want the hardware delivered,” and select [Ship Hardware]. |
Step 6. Intended Launch Date
This is the date when you want to begin using your new POS.

You will not be able to select an intended Launch date within five days of the current date. This ensures the hardware has time to arrive before you intend to launch.
Step 7. Connect Stripe Payout Method

Otter POS Go-Live Checklist
Before you begin the Go-Live call with an Otter Onboarding Specialist, please attempt to complete the following tasks. No worries if you get stuck on a step or experience any complications, your onboarding specialist will be able to help you during the scheduled Go-Live call.
Step 1. Connect Stripe Account to Otter
Stripe is Otter's way of paying you out for any order processed through our system. Think of Stripe as your financial sidekick that ensures you get paid every day. Stripe is a third-party payment processor that handles all the heavy lifting of securely processing payments and managing transactions.
Once you create your Stripe account and connect it to Otter, you're all set to start receiving daily payouts. It’s fast, reliable, and seamlessly integrated into Otter to keep your business running smoothly.

Step 2. Add Staff Members to Otter
Invite your staff to Otter by creating Users. There are two user profiles you will use for your staff members: either Cashier or Supervisor role.
- Cashier - clock in/out, ring in orders, accept online orders, 86 menu items, and more.
- Supervisor - can start a cash drawer, authorize a discount, or process a refund.
Ensure the following User Management settings have been set up within the Otter Dashboard using the Creating Employee Pin Codes article.
- Make sure at least one Supervisor user has been created
- Add all staff members to your store
- Ensure all staff members have a passcode (PIN code)
Step 3. Finalize Menu Setup
Finalize your menu setup within the Otter Dashboard. There are multiple ways you can add a new menu to Otter:
- Import from delivery partner
- Upload a spreadsheet template
- Create the menu manually in Otter
