Connecting an Otter Cloud (Hardwired) Printer via TP-Link

Overview

Based on store layout, the Cloud Printer being hardwired with an ethernet cable may not fit your business and instead need a wireless connection. Cloud printers can be made wireless with a TP-Link! This article covers what is needed for the setup process and the setup steps to get the TP-Link active.

Materials needed

NoteTo connect wirelessly, you’ll need (temporary) direct access to your restaurant’s internet router. You’ll also need an additional smart device (laptop, smartphone, etc.) to complete the process.

    1 Connect the TP-Link device to a power source using the provided power cord.

    2 Connect one end of the ethernet cable to the TP-Link device and the other end to the internet router.
    3 Wait for the TP-Link light to flash green, then remain solid.
    4 Connect the smart device to the TP-Link_ network.
    5 Enter the 8-digit password found on the connection card or back of the TP-Link device.

    Open a web browser and navigate to TPLinkWifi.net.

    Create a password and submit to access the setup dashboard.

    7 Select Client for Operation Mode and click Next.
    8 Select the network, click Connect, and enter the network password if required.
    9 Ensure DHCP is enabled and click Next.

    Review configuration and click Finish.

     

    InfoWait for the reboot process to complete.
    11 Disconnect the TP-Link from the router.
    12 Connect the TP-Link device to the printer and power source.
    13 Wait until the TP-Link light turns solid green.
    14 Load thermal paper into the printer.

    15 Ensure paper extends upward from the bottom of the printer.
    16 Turn on the printer.  
    17 Wait for a test ticket showing DHCP Enable and IP address.

Troubleshooting

TP-Link Reset for Blinking Green Light or DHCP Issues

Use this troubleshooting when:

  • TP-Link green light is not lit
  • TP-Link green light is blinking continuously
  • DHCP status is NOT Enabled
