Configuring Kiosk Settings

Fully customize and manage your kiosk to match your brand and business operations, all within the Kiosk App in Otter Dashboard

Kiosk Settings give you the ability to tailor the kiosk experience to meet your business needs and customer expectations while also streamlining your Pickup and Dine-in operations.

Kiosk Settings

Check out the sections below to learn about which Kiosk settings can be configured for your brands, locations, or organization. In order to access these settings in Otter Dashboard, you must have an Admin user role.

The "Brand customization" Kiosk Settings can only be configured at the brand level.

Devices

  • Ordering | Devices Kiosk Settings

    Ticket Printing: Allow tickets/receipts to be printed at the kiosk.

    Phone Number Collection: Allow customers to add their phone number when placing an order.
  • Language Support | Devices Kiosk Settings

    Primary Kiosk Language: The primary language used on your menu will be automatically assigned to the kiosk. Your customers will be able to select other languages on the kiosk that are available on your menu. Additional menu languages can be added in the Menus App within the Otter Dashboard.     Override Menu Default: This allows the use of a default language other than what is configured in the Menu App (the primary language is configured to be English).

 

Fulfillment Modes (Pickup & Dine-in)

  • Pickup Kiosk SettingsCustomize your Kiosk for pickup ordering by toggling on [Enable pickup] and configuring the following:

    •  Payment Methods: Cash or card

    •  Tips: Collect tips, set default tip amounts, and enable the customers to enter a custom tip

    •  Service Fees: Activate service fees and configure the fee amount
     
  • Dine-in Kiosk SettingsCustomize your Kiosk for dine-in ordering by toggling on [Enable dine-in] and configuring the following:

    •  Table Numbers: This requires users to provide a table number

    •  Payment Methods: Cash or card

    •  Tips: Collect tips, set default tip amounts, and enable the customers to enter a custom tip

    •  Service Fees: Activate service fees and configure the fee amount

 

Theme

Customize the theme to match your business branding and enhance the customer experience! Available theme customizations:

  • Primary Color: Main color used throughout the experience to tie it more closely to the brand. Requires hex color codes.
  • Font: Pick a font best fitting your brand from the free selection provided by Google fonts.
  • Font Style: Select the font style: regular or bold.
  • Primary Logo: Optimize your image for a ratio of 1:1 (higher resolution will look better, so aim for a minimum of 800px by 800px). The best-supported formats are jpg or png.

Walkup Screen

Similar to the Theme settings, you also have the ability to customize the following options on the Kiosk Walkup Screen:

  • Background Image: Optimize your image for a ratio of 1:1 (higher resolution will look better, so aim for a minimum of 800px by 800px). The best-supported formats are jpg or png.
  • Welcome Message: Customize a welcome message for the walkup screen.
  • Start Ordering Button: Customize the ordering button message for the walkup screen.
  • Footer Theme: Depending on your background image select a theme that best fits your walkup page.

Phone Number Screen

If you offer SMS updates on orders or have Otter Loyalty, the Phone Number Screen can help you collect contact information from customers during the ordering process. You can customize the heading and subheading to a personalized message. You also have the ability to provide an option for customers to skip phone number collection.

  • Page Heading: Customize the page header to request the customer's phone numbers to add to the order. For example, "Enter your phone number."
  • Page Subheading: Customize the subheading text to add any additional details explaining what the phone number will be used for. For example, "We'll text you once your food is ready and you can claim points earned with orders."
  • Requirement: Enabling this allows the customers to skip this page without providing a phone number to complete their order.

Name Screen

This kiosk screen collects the customer's name for personalization and (along with the order number) serves as a distinct way to tell their order apart.

  • Page Heading: Customize the page header to request the customer's name for the order. For example, "Enter your name."
  • Page Subheading: Customize the subheading text to explain why you are requesting a name for the order. For example, "Your name is used to distinguish your order from others."

Order Summary

This is the last step in the customer's checkout process. On this screen, the customer will have the chance to do a final review of the order details before payment.

  • Page Heading: Customize the Order Summary page header to match your brand's voice. For example, "Thank you, Ankit."
  • Page Subheading: Customize the subheading text to add any additional details before the order is processed. For example, "We're almost ready to start preparing your order."

Confirmation

This is the final screen in the kiosk ordering process. The customer's payment has been processed successfully, and the order details have been sent to the kitchen for preparation.

  • Confirmation Message: Customize the confirmation message to confirm you received the order. 
    For example, "We got your order! Look out for a text when it's ready."
  • Confirmation Button: Customize the confirmation button to easily close out the checkout process. For example, "I'm done."

Legal

Add links to the Kiosk for your Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions (Terms of Use). 

  • Privacy Policy: Copy and paste your privacy policy URL link into the settings field.
  • Terms and Conditions: Copy and paste your Terms and Conditions (Terms of Use) URL link into the settings field.
  • Terms Agreement Message: Customize the Terms Agreement Message that will appear on the kiosk. For example, "I agree to the Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy."
  • Marketing Terms Checkbox Selected by Default: This determines whether or not the terms box is already checked. 

 


 

Accessing Kiosk Settings

warning-notification.svgAll of the settings can be set or overridden at the Brand, Location, or Organization level.
If an override is placed on a setting, the more specific setting will be set. Meaning:
    Location settings will override Brand and Organization settings
    Brand settings will override Organization settings

A best practice is to set the settings at the Organization level and only override them at another level if absolutely needed.
