Overview
The Pricing Rule feature within Otter’s Menu Management allows you to create an increase or decrease pricing rule for all or a group of menu items. You can configure a pricing rule:
- Per channel
- Per location
- Per fulfillment option
- Per menu
- For all or a group of menu items
- By percent or fixed amount
Although you can set advanced pricing per item menu, the Pricing Rule feature gives you the ability to set an overall pricing rule to multiple or all menu items in one action— instead of having to update each item pricing rule individually.
Create a Pricing Rule
Follow the steps below to set a Pricing Rule in the Otter Dashboard.
Step Process Image 1 From the Otter Dashboard, select Apps > Menus. 2 Select the menu you’d like to create a pricing rule for.
Click the [Pricing rules] tab.
3 Click [+Create new rule]. 4 Enter Name and Description for pricing rule. 5 Select for Apply to section:
- locations
- items, categories, or menu(s)
- channels
- Fulfillment modes
Pricing Rule will only apply to selected options.
6 Choose Pricing:
- By percentage
- By fixed amount
Enter percent or dollar amount for change.
Decreased Pricing Rule
For a pricing rule to decrease the menu item(s) price, just put a negative (-) before percent or dollar amount entered.
7 Optional
Toggle to enable or disable Round up values.
If enabled, select the round up amount.
8 Optional
Toggle to enable Exclude items.
You can choose to exclude items:
- Within a price range
- Greater than a price
- Less than a price
Enter dollar amount for excluded items.
9 You can preview the price difference for menu items with current settings entered per location, channel, & platform. 10 Toggle to activate or deactivate pricing rule.
Click [Save] to save the pricing rule.
Pricing Rules Overview
Created pricing rules will show on the overview Pricing Rule tab.
Editing Pricing Rules
Once a pricing rule is created, it will be listed in the Pricing Rule tab. There, you will be able to:
- Filter created rules view
- Activate or deactivate rule
- Delete rule
- Edit rule settings

Activate or Deactivate Pricing Rule
To activate or deactivate a pricing rule:
- Click the toggle under Status for the desired pricing rule listed.
- Once you click the toggle, the Status will also update to Active or Inactive to reflect change.
Delete Pricing Rule
To delete a pricing rule:
- Click the trash can icon next to the desired pricing rule listed.
- Click the [Yes, delete] button to confirm pricing rule deletion.
Bulk Deleting Price Rules
Currently, there is not a feature to delete multiple price rules at once. Price rules will have to be individually deleted.
Edit Price Rule Settings
To edit an existing pricing rule:
- Click on the rule listed and the pricing rule settings window will pop up to make edits.
- Once edits are made, click [Save] to apply changes.
Troubleshooting

When creating or editing a price rule, if the settings entered conflict with another current price rule— Otter will flag this conflict to you with an alert.
To resolve the conflict two ways— you can:
A. Click [View conflicting rule] to adjust rule settings, so the two rules no longer conflict.
B. Click [Turn off conflicting rule] to deactivate conflicting price rule and continue with the price rule you’re currently creating.
