Menu Item Pricing

Overview

Once you have created a menu item in Otter, that item's pricing can be edited from the Otter Dashboard. 

Menu item prices can also be updated to reflect different prices per channel and/or fulfillment mode.

Editing a Menu Item Price

Follow the steps below to edit the price for an existing menu item from the Otter Dashboard.

• Step 1:

  From the Otter Dashboard, select Apps > Menus.

  Click on the menu you'd like to edit the item on.

  

• Step 2:

  Click on the item you'd like to edit the price for.

  

• Step 3:

  Scroll to the Pricing section of the item details page. Type the new price for the item default price box to be published to all channels (this price will be used if advanced pricing isn’t set).
  
  

• Step 4:

  Click [Save].  

  

   

• Step 5:

  Click [Publish] to publish menu updates.

  
   

   

• Step 6:

  Select all locations and delivery channels you'd like to apply changes, then click [Publish menu].

  

   

Adding a Price for New Items

When adding a new item to your menu from the Otter Dashboard, once you click [+ Add item]— you'll be able to set pricing for the item from the Pricing section (the same as Step 3- 5 shown above).

Advanced Price Settings

With Advanced Pricing Settings, you can set the price for an item per:

• Fulfillment options
• Delivery partners
• Otter channel
• Fulfillment per channel

To set advanced pricing for an item, click [Edit] from an item details page. Then expand the location and fulfillment pricing details to make changes.

Check out the different advanced pricing options below.

  1	From the item details page, scroll to the Pricing section. Click [Edit].
  2	Select a location to expand or select [Expand all] for all locations.
  3	Select platform to adjust fulfillment pricing for and expand.
  4	Edit pricing next to fulfillment you’d like to change pricing for.
  5	After edits are complete, click [Save].
  6	Click [Save] on the item details page.
  7	Click [Publish] to publish menu updates.
  8	Select all locations and delivery channels you'd like to apply changes, then click [Publish menu].

  4	To adjust pricing per fulfillment for that platform, expand for fulfillment pricing details.
  5	Edit pricing next to fulfillment you’d like to change pricing for.
  6	After edits are complete, click [Save].
  7	Click [Save] on the item details page.
  8	Click [Publish] to publish menu updates.
  9	Select all locations and delivery channels you'd like to apply changes, then click [Publish menu].

Bulk Advanced Pricing

You can bulk set advanced pricing for an item by using the filter options and menu bar on the Edit Price window.

In the example below, you can see by filtering for Otter POS channel and Dine-in fulfillment, the pricing for only Otter POS dine-in for that menu item at selected locations can be edited at once. 

Bulk Updating Menu Prices

If there are numerous items needing the same price adjustment, you can streamline the process by bulk updating to simultaneously update multiple items. You can bulk update the price of items by:
 

• A set price
• Adjusting by dollar or percent amount
• Selecting updates made everywhere or by channel

You can bulk update menu prices directly in the Otter Dashboard or using an Excel import option for big updates.

Follow the steps below to bulk update item pricing within the Otter Dashboard:

• Step 1:

  From the Menu Overview page, go to the Items tab. Use the filters to quickly find the items you’d wish to update.

  

   

   

• Step 2:

  Once you’ve selected a menu, select the items to update by checking the box next to the items.

  

   

• Step 3:

  Click [$ Update prices] from the bottom of the screen.

  

   

• Step 4:

  Choose whether to update the price everywhere or by channel.

  

   

• Step 5:

  Select to update item prices by changing to set dollar price, changing the price by a dollar amount, or changing the price by a percentage.

  

   

• Step 6:

  Click [Change prices] > [Publish] to publish updated pricing.

FAQs

• Yes— to update pricing for an entire category, select the category you'd like to edit. Then check all items and click [Update prices].

   

   

• Yes— when bulk updating, just add a negative in front of the price or percent you'd like to decrease the price by.

   

  

   

• Yes— Click the Items tab on a menu, then check all items. From there, you can follow the flow to bulk update the pricing for all items on the menu simultaneously.
