Tip Settings for Online Ordering

Overview

The Tips settings for Online Ordering, allows you to edit the following for Direct Orders:

Turn the ability to tip OFF or ON
Set default or suggested percentage for tip amounts
Control tip settings per order fulfillment type

Enabling Tips

From the Otter Dashboard, you can edit Tip settings— allowing tipping options to be configured per-fulfillment mode and input custom amounts for the default tipping options displayed to your customers.

Follow the steps below to learn how to edit the basic settings for tipping for all brands/stores, or for a specific brand/store.

1	From the Otter Dashboard, select Apps > Direct Orders.
2	Click [Settings].
3	Choose the fulfillment mode (Pickup, Delivery, or Dine-in) you’d like to edit. For this setting, Dine-in fulfillment refers to QR Code ordering. Scroll to the Tips sections. Toggle the button ON next to Collect tips.
4	Select pre-set Tip default amount or customize tip percentages.
5	Click [Save] to update Tip settings.

1	From the Otter Dashboard, select Apps > Direct Orders.
2	Click View Stores under the brand you’d like to enable tips for.
3	Click the [Settings] button by the store you’d like to edit.
4	Choose the fulfillment mode (Pickup, Delivery, or Dine-in) you’d like to edit. For this setting, Dine-in fulfillment refers to QR Code ordering. Toggle the Override Settings ON.
5	Scroll to the Tips sections. Toggle the button ON next to Collect tips.
6	Select pre-set Tip default amount or customize tip percentages.
7	Click [Save] to update Tip settings.

Editing Tip Amounts Settings

There will be default percentages shown for Tip amounts within the Tip Settings. However, these percentages can be edited.

To edit Tip Amounts, follow the steps below:

Step 1

From Settings, select fulfillment, and scroll to the Tips section.

Click into the box of the percent you’d like to edit.
Step 2

Type in desired percentage amount.

Select Tip default below.
Step 3

Click [Save] to update Tip settings.

Disabling Tips

To disable tips, just navigate to the Settings > selecting fulfillment > Tips section for desired store— then toggle OFF the Collect tips option.

Be sure to click [Save] to update those Tip Settings edits.

FAQs

Tips are processed through Stripe, just like all other Direct Orders. Stripe is able to keep detailed records of which channel and server each tip belongs to— so you'll always know where to pay out a specific tip.

Yes— you'll just need to enable tips for both of these fulfillment modes under their corresponding tabs.

There is no commission applied by the credit card— the fee is applied to the totality of the order.
