Menu Version History

Overview

The Menu Version History within the Menus App allows you to:

  • View recent menu publishes
  • See what user published a menu version
  • Revert to a previous menu version

 


 

Viewing Menu Version History

When viewing the menu version history, you’ll be able to see:

To view more details about the changes made to the menu, you can check the Menu Activity log. There, you’ll be able to view specific edits made to the menu.

Follow the steps below to view a menu’s Menu Version History.

If a menu has been deleted, you will not be able to view the history for that menu.

 


 

Revert to Previous Menu Version

Follow the steps below to revert to a previous menu version.

    1 From the Otter Dashboard, select Apps > Menus.

    Select the menu you’d like to view.

    Click [Version history].

    Select menu version to restore.

    Click [View older publishes] to show older publishing events if menu version you wish to select isn’t shown

    4 Click [Restore menu version].

    5 Confirm reverting the menu version by clicking [Restore menu version].

    Once restore is complete, click [Publish] to publish menu updates.

    Optional

    Add a publishing note to appear in Menu Version History/Activity logs. Adding a publishing note will help identify a menu version better in the future.

    Select all locations and delivery channels you'd like to apply changes, then click [Publish menu].

InfoReverting Menu Items & POS links

When restoring a menu version, the menu structure and all included items will appear just as they were during that version of the menu template in the Otter Dashboard— this may cause menu item links to change for integrated Third-party POS.

Example:

If a menu item was imported from the Third-party POS after that menu version, it will not appear on the restored menu. If a menu item was deleted after that menu version, it will reappear on the restored menu but without a link with the Third-party POS— this may cause POS order injection issues.

 


 

Autosaved Snapshots

Autosaved snapshots are automatically saved versions of the menu that Otter creates when significant changes are made.

Examples of significant changes:

  • Menu hours publish
  • Adding a location
  • Removing a location
  • Restoring menu version

 


 

FAQs

  • Yes— When restoring a menu version, the menu & item location assignment will also be reverted to what it was at the time of that menu version.
  • No— The option to restore a menu version is not available for Future Foods menus.
