Overview
Once you have created a menu item in Otter, that item's pricing can be edited by downloading the menu Excel template and importing changes.
Menu item prices can still be updated to reflect different prices per channel and/or fulfillment mode across selected locations.
Currently, this feature can only be used to update menu prices. Any other updates you’d like to make to your menu will need to be done within the Otter Dashboard.
Bulk Updating Menu via Excel Import
Follow the steps below to download your menu template via Excel to make bulk menu prices and import to update changes made.

Step Process Image 1 From the Otter Dashboard, select Apps > Menus. 2 Select the menu you’d like to edit.
Click the Items tab.

If you don’t want all menu items downloaded on the Excel sheet for updating, you can select categories or modifier groups from the filters to select
4 Click [Bulk edit prices].
Select Download as Excel (.xlsx).
5 Check where you’d like to make updates— this will create a column in the downloaded Excel sheet to edit and make updates:
Ordering channel
Fulfillment mode
Location
Parent category and/or modifier group
6 If you selected specific menu categories or modifiers (in step 3)— you will need to select to download Excel template for all or selected items.
If no filters were selected …
This option will not show, as the default when no filters are used to select specific menu items is to include all.7 Once selections are made, you will see columns of the Excel sheet highlights under Summary of columns.
Default Columns
Item ID, Item name, internal name, and default price will be automatically included as a column for the downloaded Excel template.8 Click [Download Excel]. 9 Makes edits within the downloaded Excel template.
Within the Excel template, required columns (cannot be left blank) will be indicated in red. Fields that are editable will be indicated in green.10 Once edits are complete within Excel, saved, and ready to upload— within the Items tab in the Otter Dashboard, click [Bulk edit prices].
Select Upload edited prices.
11 Upload Excel file (in .xlsx format).
Progress of upload will show.
12 *Price Overrides *
If there are price overrides, check the box to replace price overrides listed with new pricing before confirming to upload.
13 File will show once successfully added.
Click [Upload and update prices] to apply changes to the menu.
14 Click [Publish] to publish menu updates. 15 Select all locations and delivery channels you'd like to apply changes, then click [Publish menu].
Troubleshooting
- When you upload your Excel file using a format other than .xlsx format, you will see an error message indicating the incorrect format was used. To resolve this, re-download your Excel template in .xlsx format and try to upload again.
- If your file exceeds the maximum size limit, you will see an error message indicating that. To resolve, reduce the file size and try to upload the resized file.

If you have added new or removed existing menu items in the Excel template, you will receive an error stating that no new items can be added or existing items removed using this bulk menu editing import.
At this time, only the pricing of menu items downloaded to the Excel template can be edited using this method.Learn how to add a new or remove existing menu items here.

Yes— you can bulk update menu pricing within the Otter Dashboard. However, the Excel import option is great for big and numerous edits that need to be made and quickly uploaded to implement changes.

This Excel import option currently is only available for menu item pricing. However, yes— you can make other bulk updates to your menu within the Otter Dashboard using the bulk edit pop-up menu when you select more than one menu item or category to edit.
