Overview
Once you’ve created or imported a menu in the Otter Dashboard, you can edit the Menu Settings to set key aspects of your menu.
In the Menu Settings, you can adjust:
- Menu Name
- Enable Special Instructions
- Enable Suggested Tax Rates
- Enable Menu Photo Enhancement
- Menu Location(s)
- Multi-language Menus
Multi-language Menu Availability
Currently, the multi-language menu feature is only available for Otter Kiosk.
The multi-language menu feature will not apply menu translations to Otter POS, Online Ordering websites, or delivery partners.
Editing Menu Settings
Follow the steps below to edit Menu Setting and learn more about each setting field.

From the Otter Dashboard, select Apps > Menus.

Select the menu to update. Then click the gear icon in the top right corner.

Adjust to desired settings. Click [Save].

Click [Publish] to publish menu updates. Select all locations and delivery channels you'd like to apply changes, then click [Publish menu].
Menu Setting Fields
Click through each drop-down below to learn more about each Menu Setting field.
Menu Name
To change the menu name, just click into the field and type the updated menu name.
Special Instructions
Enabling Special Instructions allows eaters to add notes to their order for the restaurant when placing an order on any supported platform. To adjust this setting, toggle the button ON or OFF.
Special Instructions Supported Platforms
Special Instructions setting is not supported on Otter POS. If special instructions are not supported on a platform, the option for the eater to add a note to their order option will not show.
Automatic Photo Enhancement
When Automatic Photo Enhancement is enabled, this allows improvements to be made to your menu photos automatically to increase photo quality— saving you time and ensuring the best possible photos for your menu.
Taxes
For Taxes setting, you can choose whether you'd like Otter to send tax rates or not, per channel. There are a few instances where toggling the tax sending setting ON or OFF is not optional— some channels require a default setting for sending taxes.
Default Settings
By default the toggle will be turned OFF for eligible online channels— meaning Otter will not send taxes to those online channels, unless is required by the integration.
Locations
The menu location specifies which location(s) the menu will be published to. To update the location(s), click Edit, and select or uncheck a location.

Languages
The Languages section helps you add translations for your menu— allowing an eater to choose a menu language preference while ordering.
