Overview
For some organizations, there may be different store owners using the same brand. In these instances, there is one Brand owner Otter account (Corporate account) and multiple Brand user accounts (Franchisee accounts).
This structure allows a Franchisee to separately manage their business, view menus, and gain insights for their location of the brand, yet still allows Corporate to keep menu cohesion for the different brand locations.
Corporate Permissions
A user with Corporate permissions refers to a user signed into the brand’s Corporate account who has an Admin role assigned to them within the Otter Dashboard.
For users with Corporate permissions, in the Otter Dashboard, you are able to view and manage menus for all stores within your brand— regardless of ownership.
Corporate Account Limitation
Corporate users only view billing & subscription information for Otter products and stores for which they are the billing owner.
Menu Editing Permissions
You will also be able to set menu editing permissions for Franchisees within your brand. See below for more information on menu editing Franchisee permission settings:

Default permissions for Franchisees are certain areas where permissions cannot be adjusted. Notably, only Corporate users are able to create new or delete menu items.

Edit permissions are the adjustable permissions for Franchisees. As a Brand owner, you can turn these permissions OFF or ON by toggling the button at the top.
All Edit permissions ON or OFF
For Edit permissions listed, there is only the opinion to turn all listed ON or OFF for all Franchisees. Currently, you’re not able to select these permissions or locations individually to turn them ON or OFF.
Franchisee Edit Requests
Keep in mind, any permission that is turned OFF for Franchisees— they will need to reach out to Corporate to request a change/edit.
Setting Franchisee Menu Edit Permissions
Users with Admin role in the Otter Dashboard will be able to edit Franchisee menu edit permissions. Follow the steps below to adjust those permissions.
How to set Franchisee menu edit permissions:

Select the menu you’d like to edit permissions for. Click the Settings button in the right-hand corner. |

Franchisee Permissions
For Franchisees, you’ll still be able to take actions necessary to manage your location within the brand with a few menu editing limitations.
Any menu editing restrictions are centrally managed by the brand’s Corporate team. You’ll be able to see these limitations in the Otter Dashboard > Menus section.

Default Enabled
There are also some permissions that default to enabled for Franchisees for their location and cannot be changed:
- Publishing a menu
- Setting menu hours
- Item availability
- Manage payment methods
- View analytics data
- View billing & subscription information
Default Limitations
There are a few permissions that are limited for Franchisees by default:
- Managing promotions
- Creating menu items
- Deleting menu items
- Add or edit menu photos
Corporate Edit Requests
If you would like to make a change in an area where you have a limited permission, you will need to request a change from your brand’s Corporate team.

Although Franchisees cannot delete menu items— Assigning or unassigning menu items to your location gives you the ability to control what items eaters can see and order on your menu.
By unassigning a menu item from your location, eaters will not see or be able to order that item from your store.
Follow the steps below to unassign a menu item from your location:

4 Uncheck the location to unassign item for.
Click [Done] to confirm.
5 Click [Save]. 6 Click [Publish] to publish menu updates.
Select all locations and delivery channels you'd like to apply changes, then click [Publish menu].
