Otter’s Kiosk Mini (15") are designed to provide all the functionality of a full-size kiosk but with the added benefit of smaller, space-efficient hardware—ideal for tight spaces or high-traffic areas like busy restaurants.
These mini kiosks are ideal for environments with limited real estate or high traffic, offering a streamlined, efficient solution for order-taking, check-ins, and other self-service needs. Whether you need the flexibility of a dual-purpose terminal or a dedicated kiosk for your customers, our mini kiosk options provide the perfect fit for any space.
Explore the following sections to dive deeper into setup, configuration, and best practices for each option.
We offer two distinct mini kiosk options, each suited to different business needs:
Kiosk Mode (Dual-Screen Terminal)
Kiosk Mode option is available for dual-screen terminals that can easily toggle between POS and Kiosk functionality. When Kiosk Mode is activated, the customer-facing screen transforms into a self-service kiosk, allowing customers to place orders, check-in, or access other services. When Kiosk Mode is deactivated, the terminal functions as a standard POS system for staff use.
Best for: Businesses that need flexible, multi-purpose devices that can switch between customer-facing kiosks and staff-facing POS systems.
The Kiosk Mode feature exists within the Otter app for Otter POS. Once the feature is enabled, a Kiosk app will appear on the Otter home screen.
Kiosk Mode (Dual-Screen Terminal) Hardware
To use the Kiosk Mode app, you must use an Otter POS Terminal.
Kiosk Mode uses the same printer and card reader as your Otter POS terminal - No additional setup or hardware is required. To set up a printer and card reader, follow the same process as pairing for a regular Otter POS setup. Learn more here: Otter POS Hardware Setup Guide.
Kiosk Device Pairing
All point-of-sale terminals must be paired. When you pair a device, you assign the device to your store’s physical location. To pair your device, you will need administrative access to the Otter Dashboard. Once the terminal is assembled and powered on, you can begin pairing the device to your Otter account.

Turning your Otter POS into a customer-facing self-serve Kiosk just takes a few clicks. Follow this guide for a step-by-step walkthrough: Enable Kiosk Mode.
Kiosk Mini (Single-Screen Terminal)
The Kiosk Mini is a single-screen terminal dedicated solely to kiosk use. It’s designed to provide guests with a seamless, self-service experience, and is perfect for locations with limited space or high customer volume.
Unlike the Kiosk Mode (dual-screen terminal), the Kiosk Mini is not intended for POS functionality. This single screen is the hardware that is included with a Kiosk Mini Bundle.
Best for: Environments where you need a compact, customer-facing kiosk solution without the need for POS capabilities.

Accessing Kiosk Admin Settings
If the kiosk is locked in “Kiosk Mode”, you will still be able to access Kiosk Admin Settings since it is within the app. However, you cannot exit the Kiosk app to go to Device Settings if you want to change WiFi network, display brightness, or any other Android settings.
If you tap the bottom of the screen and the home bar does not appear (an arrow allowing you to exit the app), then the kiosk is locked in “Kiosk Mode.”

-
Currently, Kiosk Mode does not support offline mode.
- When an s700 is used for kiosks as a Card Reader and exits "Reader Mode" it will display the Otter App Login Screen. To repair the reader, follow the below steps:
- Do not log-in with a username + password, or by scanning the QR code.
-
Instead, select “Reader Mode” on the Otter App Login Screen of the s700.
This solution applies if the kiosk screen doesn’t display any error message (meaning the payment terminal is still paired to the app, but somehow exited reader mode).
