Switching into Kiosk Mode
Turning your Otter POS into a customer-facing self-serve kiosk just takes a few clicks:

Click the account icon in the upper right corner and select [Settings]. -
Step 2
Tap [Kiosk] in App Settings on the left-hand side. -
Step 3
Toggle on [Use secondary display].
Once Kiosk Mode is on, select the [Kiosk] app on the Otter Home screen and begin taking orders from your customer-facing POS terminal screen. Guests can tap [Start Ordering] to begin.
Turning off Kiosk Mode
When you're ready to switch off Kiosk Mode, follow the steps below.
Turning off Kiosk Mode
Dual-screen Terminal: To turn off customer-facing Kiosk Mode for a dual-screen terminal, a passcode just needs to be entered on Otter POS, and you can resume taking orders as usual.
Single-screen terminal: To exit Kiosk Mode for a single-screen terminal, swipe up from the bottom of the screen and hit the back button.
Troubleshooting
Broken Confirmation Image Display
If your confirmation page is not correctly displaying (see example below), double-check that your store image is updated and uploaded in the Direct Orders app on your Otter Dashboard.
No need to restart your device once completed- after a few moments, your display should appear correctly.

Terminal Disconnected Error Message
If your POS keeps displaying Terminal Disconnected (shown below), you may need to reconnect your card reader.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who has Kiosk Mode access?
All Otter POS customers who have added Kiosk Mode to their subscription and have completed Otter Kiosk Onboarding.
To add Kiosk Mode to your subscription, reach out to your Otter point of contact for help.
What printer and card readers are compatible with Kiosk Mode?
The Kiosk Mode app uses the same printer and card reader as your Otter POS terminal. No additional setup or hardware is required.
Does Kiosk Mode work in Offline Mode?
If your POS loses wifi access while Kiosk Mode is enabled, transactions will not be able to process. However, you can continue to take orders with Offline Mode using the cashier-facing POS function.
