Overview
Otter currently offers the 16" Star Micronics CD4 as a cash drawer option alongside your POS terminal and printer to help organize your cash.

Cash Drawer Setup
Follow the steps below to connect the cash drawer to the POS terminal and printer.

Step Process Image 1 After unboxing hardware, be sure to keep (or turn) the printer to be connected off. Printer power button
2 The included cable will have each side of the cable labeled— Cash drawer and Printer. 3 Turn over the cash drawer (the bottom of the cash drawer should be facing up).
Plug in the end of the cable labeled Cash Drawer into the port on the bottom of the cash drawer.
4 Flip over the printer to remove the bottom panel from your printer. 5 Plug in the end of the cable labeled Printer into the port on the bottom of the printer.
Identifying Correct Port
There will be an image of a cash drawer by the correct port on that printer to easily identify which port to plug the cable into.Place the printer’s panel back on.
6 Be sure the printer and other devices (like the POS terminal, or card reader) are plugged into a power source, and turned on.

Connect your POS to wifi and pair the device with your Otter account. Be sure to also pair your printer with your POS terminal.7 Using the drawer key, unlock the cash drawer and put it into the electronic control position. 8 From the POS terminal, tap Options > [Open cash drawer] to test and confirm cash drawer connection. 9 From the Otter Dashboard, select Apps > POS. 10 Go to the Settings tab (for Org settings).

Click [Brand settings] (for brand-only settings).
11 Go to Cash drawers from the side menu.
Toggle ON Cash management to enable the Otter Cash App on your terminal.
Click [Save] to confirm.

Opening a Cash Drawer
A cash drawer can be opened two ways:
- Electronically Via POS or receipt printed
- Manually by key
Learn more about each option below.

To electronically open a cash drawer:
- From the POS terminal, tap Options
- Scroll down to the Other section
- Tap [Open cash drawer]
- When finished, just push the drawer back in to close
- To manually open a cash drawer:
- Insert the key into the key lock on the front of the drawer
- Turn key to the left
- Drawer should slide open
- When finished, close the drawer and turn key back to original position
Locking a Cash Drawer
Using the drawer key, you can manually lock the cash drawer by turning the key to the right. Locking the cash drawer will stop it from opening in correspondence with the POS terminal or printer.
In order to resume electronic/automatic control of the cash drawer, return the key to the up-right position.
