Otter Handhelds Introduction

Otter Handhelds provide a mobile solution for managing orders and payments on the go. This handheld POS device enables you to take customer orders and process payments from anywhere in the restaurant, such as dine-in tables or at a food truck window.

The Otter Handheld connects directly to your Otter POS terminal, allowing staff to accurately take orders on the go and submit them to the kitchen more efficiently.

 


 

Otter Handheld Display

The Otter Handheld device features a display similar to that of the standard POS terminal. However, it is slightly scaled down to fit into a handheld device, allowing you to still take orders and process payments on the go.

The Otter Handheld device is perfect for restaurants that have:

  • Line busting
  • Tableside ordering and payments
  • Food trucks
  • Drive-thru

Otter Handheld vs Otter POS Terminal

Due to the Handheld's size, the device has a few notable differences compared to the Otter POS Terminal. Check out the differences below.

On the Handheld device, the Menus app will not be accessible since menu edits and 86ing are not available on this device.

Menu edits must be made in the Otter Dashboard, and 86ing must be done on the tablet/POS terminal or in the Otter Dashboard.

On the Handheld device, the Analytics app will not be accessible since there is no analytics data available on this device.

To view analytics data, go to the Analytics app on the POS terminal or in the Otter Dashboard.

Kiosk App

The Kiosk app is not accessible from the Handheld device and cannot be utilized as a customer-facing kiosk.

If you have added Kiosk Mode to your Otter subscription, the Kiosk app can be utilized from the POS terminal to transform your terminal into a customer-facing kiosk.

If an eater requests a receipt, it must be printed from the Orders app on the POS terminal.

If you would like to incorporate the Otter Handheld into your restaurant operations, please reach out to Otter Support to add it to your Otter POS subscription plan.

Otter Handheld can only be purchased as an add-on to an Otter POS subscription plan.
  • Handheld hardware cost to purchase: $450
  • Handheld hardware cost to lease: $39/month
  • Handheld software cost: $15/month per screen
