Overview
For printers connected to your Otter POS or tablet, you can configure settings to fit your business operations and needs.
From your hardware settings, you can customize settings for:
- Ticket type printed
- Number of printed ticket copies
- Fulfillment ticket type
- Station routing
- Customer ticket print time
- Adjusted order tickets

Ticket Types
Otter devices currently support four printer ticket types. These four ticket types each serve a different purpose and help efficiently communicate order information.
Check out each ticket type and ticket functionality:
Ticket Type | Function | Image |
Customer Ticket |
Shows order breakdown of all items and item price (if toggled on) included in the order. Typically used at order prep stations or order handoffs. |

Payment Receipt |
Shows order and payment details for the order. Typically thought of as the receipt given to the customer. |
|
Station Ticket |
Shows only item information and kitchen station name specific for the assigned kitchen station. Typically goes to a specific kitchen station. |
|
Sticker Label |
Order information is printed on a sticky label. Typically used to attach to individual food/beverage containers within the order. |
Choosing Ticket Type
You can select the ticket type for a printer to print within the Hardware settings from your Otter POS or tablet.
Steps to select ticket type for Hardware settings:

Tap the profile icon, then Settings.

Go to the Hardware tab. -
Step 3
Select the printer to edit. -
Step 4
Click on the ticket type listed to toggle OFF or ON for that ticket type to print at the selected printer.Ticket Type Selection

Sticker Label Settings
Sticker labels will not be listed as a ticket type within the Hardware settings. To have items printed on a sticker label, you will need to toggle that option ON for Print on a label while creating or editing a menu item.

Ticket Copies
You can set how many copies of the ticket you’d like printed at once for the Otter POS or tablet connected printer.
Follow the steps below to adjust ticket copies:

Tap the profile icon, then Settings.

Go to the Hardware tab. -
Step 3
Select the printer to edit. -
Step 4
Click on the ticket type listed to edit settings for that ticket type. -
Step 5
Use the plus (+) or minus (-) to adjust the number of ticket copies to print for ticket type on the selected printer.
Fulfillment Order Ticket Type
The Fulfillment Order Type ticket setting allows you to assign tickets for a selected fulfillment type to print at a specific printer.
The Fulfillment Order Types are:
- Delivery
- Pick up
- Dine in
- Drive-thru
Example:
Your restaurant has 2 POS— 1 at front of house for dine in orders and 1 at the drive-thru window.
You would select Drive-thru for fulfillment order type for the ticket settings for your printer connected to your Drive-thru POS. Only tickets rang up for Drive-thru would print at that POS printer.

Printer Station Routing
Station routing gives you the ability to send certain menu items tickets to print by organized kitchen or prep stations. Once you have created Stations from the Otter Dashboard, you’ll be able to assign a printer to print tickets for menu items assigned to that station.
Station Example:
Happy Otter Burgers currently has 1 kitchen station. However, they need:
- Tickets for fries and onion rings to go to the fryer preparation area
- Tickets for burgers to go to the grilling preparation area
- Tickets for sodas and milkshakes to go to the drinks preparation area
In the Stations app, the admin for Happy Otter Burgers would create the following new stations:
- Fryer Station
- Grill Station
- Drink Station
Once new stations are created, desired menu items can be assigned to route to those preparation stations— the tickets for those items will print at those station printers.
Steps to assign station to printer:

Tap the profile icon, then Settings.

Go to the Hardware tab. -
Step 3
Select the printer to edit. -
Step 4
Click on the Station ticket to edit settings for that printer’s station assignment. -
Step 5
Toggle OFF or ON for the stations listed to have menu items assigned to that station to print for the selected printer.
Customer Ticket Print Time
Within the Settings on your Otter POS or tablet— From the Tickets tab, under the Customer ticket section you can choose if you’d like the customer Dine-in ticket for an order be printed:
- When the order is sent
- When the tab is closed
Print Time Availability
Customer Ticket print time selection is for Dine-in only.
Adjusted Order Tickets
Within the Settings on your Otter POS or tablet— From the Tickets tab, under the Station ticket you can choose what items you’d like printed on the ticket for adjusted items for non Dine-in tickets:
- Print all items in order
- Print adjusted items only for order
Adjusted Order Ticket Availability
Adjusted order ticket print selection is for Non Dine-in only.
